My Hero
Definition to the project
This project is a part of the My Hero Project. The My Hero Project is a non-for-profit organization.
Their mission and basic aim is to inspire people of all ages with an ever-growing internet archive of hero stories from around the world.
The main Goals of the project
1- To differentiate between a hero and a celebrity.
2-To enable students to express their own thoughts and ideas by using their own simple words of English language.
3- To remind students that we all have the potential to overcome great obstacles and achieve our aims by following the heroes and footsteps.
4-To let students honor their heroes, those who have made a difference and brought hope to the world.
Target group
Students of 8th and 9th Grade at Shu’fat Basic Girls School.
Teachers participating:
Mrs .Hanin Abul Haj,teacher of English Language.
Mr . jawad Nashashibi, teacher of Computer.
Procedure:
1- The teacher with the students discuss the names of several suggested heroes.
2- Students start to write their first drafts of the chosen heroes.
3- The teacher checks the semantic and the syntactic part of the students’ work.
4- Students write down their final work taking into consideration the teacher’s recommendations.
5- The students under the supervision of the teacher download their work on the My Hero site as well as on the school’s website.
Assessment:
Questionnaire that deals with the following aspects:
1- The idea of the project.
2- The heroes the site talks about.
3- The values and principles the project offers and appreciates.
4- The idea of participating and joining us in this unique work.
